Gravity Flow
Gravity flow rack allows a facility to dedicate lanes to common product types and ensure that FIFO (First In First Out) will be maintained. Boxes or items are loaded on the backside of the gravity flow system and a combination of rollers,guides and inclined shelves will let gravity pull the box to the front of the unit. Then individual items or entire boxes can be removed. As product is depleted the box or item is removed and the next available box rolls forward. Use of a properly setup gravity flow system can provide 150% more product storage in the same amount of space. Gravity Rack can also eliminate spoilage of product due to improper rotation of products.
When to use a carton flow rack:
- For split case or full case picking
- When many items of different size are stocked (500+)
- If Items are picked in small quantities per order
- When at least 2 cubic feet per week is moved
- When product rotation is important to insure spoilage does not occur FIFO.
